Lung Cancer, Cancer of the Smokers

Lung cancer occurs when cells in the lungs to multiply and grow without being able to be controlled by the body. Most cases of lung cancer caused by smoking or passive smoking. Air pollution, exposure to asbestos, nickel, chrome and radiation also can trigger cancer.
These substances cause too much stimulation in the lung so that some of the cells grow abnormally. They continue to grow further without responding to a genetic predisposition and become cancerous.

Lung cancer can be divided into three: small cell carcinoma, non-small cell carcinoma and mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a cancer of the pleural membrane of cells in the lungs. This cancer is rare and strongly associated with exposure to asbestos.

The development of mesothelioma is very slow. Sometimes 25-50 years elapsed between exposure to asbestos and the development of this disease.
